George Leonard Staunton, 3 Volume Set 'An Authentic Account of an Embassy from the King of Great Britain to the Emperor of China. Taken Chiefly from the Papers of His Excellency the Earl of Macartney'. London, 1797. Printed by W. Bulmer and Co. for G. Nicol. Includes Vol. I, Vol. II (size 4to, bound in contemporatry half calf and marbled boards, smooth spines gilt), and a folio size volume with Maps & Plates (non-uniform 19th-century half calf (rebacked)). Some occassional minor marginal spotting, extremeties of spines defective, Vol. I joints split. Described 'The general condition of the book is outstanding' when purchased in 2004 for $14,400 from Arader Galleries, San Francisco. (269,270,271)
