Impressive Austrian Silver Harness Racing Presentation Coin-Set Tankard. A large tankard with 43 German thaler coins dating 1846-1871, elaborate engraving and chasing throughout, figural satyr handle, and crown finial. Parcel-gilt interior. Engraving around top rim near spout with date April 29, 1890 and dedication reading 'I Ehrenpreis Zweispannig-Fahren-Handicap am 29 April 1890 Trabrenn Gesellschaft Berlin Westend' (Honorary Award Class 2 Driving Handicap Trotting Society Berlin Westend). Austrian Import Mark dating import to 1868-1872. No makers mark. Tankard measures 17.5'' tall and 13'' spout to handle with base diameter of 8.5''. Tests 900 purity. Tankard weighs 122.25 troy ounces (3803g). Excellent condition with no dents or damage; cross at top of crown finial slightly bent, lid chain has come detached from handle but this does not affect use.
