Description
Rare Chinese 18th Cent. Bronze Palden Lhamo 7''x7''. Unusual gilt bronze figure of palden lhamo (the wrathful form of Shri Lakshmi, wisdom protector of tantric buddhism) with central third eye atop a flayed skin saddle blanket and mule. She holds a skull cup with other hand raised. Flanked by attendants, Makaravaktra and Simhavaktra. Gilt bronze figural wave base with snake and body parts. Original bottom plate with central engraved double dorje. It comes in four parts with each figure fitting into pegs on base. It original was jeweled, though none remain. Scattered surface wear from age. 18th century, Qing dynasty. Private collection Portland, Oregon to Seattle, Washington.
