Exceptional Gorham Coin Silver Presentation Pitcher 12''x8.5''. Museum quality Civil War era pitcher with applied ornament. Presented to Stephen Henry Burton (1816-1885), Eagle Ironworks co-owner and Ohio State Senator, by Miles Greenwood (1807-1885), founder of Eagle Ironworks (an important producer of munitions for the Union Army) on December 10th, 1864. Embellished with hand made Eagle and Shield, Lady Liberty with Flag, and Shield with Medieval Weaponry three-dimensional motifs. Figural cherub and vine handle. Early Gorham hallmarks, form 490.
