Shoji Hamada (1884-1978) Japanese Tenmoku Glaze Chawan Tea Bowl 3''x5.25''. Wheel thrown mingei pottery with a repeating wax resist decoration. Unsigned, no box. Bowl has a .75" crack that extends from a small glaze chip at the rim. Acquired from the artist by potter Monte Colgren (1928-2016) at the University of Washington in the late 1960's. Collection of W. Gordon Menzies, Seattle.
